1. Introduction
Thank you for choosing PicGo (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our desktop application (the “App”) and our cloud services (the “Service”). By using PicGo, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in two categories: Usage Data (to improve our product) and Service Data (to provide cloud features).
2.1 Usage Data (Analytics)
When you use the PicGo App, we may collect anonymous, aggregated data about how you interact with the software. This data does NOT include your personal files, API keys, or image content.
- What we collect:
- Performance Metrics: Upload duration, success/failure rates, and error codes.
- Usage Statistics: Number of files uploaded, file types (e.g., PNG, JPG), and plugin usage frequency.
- Device Information: Operating system version (e.g., macOS 14, Windows 11) and App version.
- Purpose: To analyze stability, optimize upload speeds, and identify popular features to guide future development.
2.2 Service Data (For PicGo Cloud Users)
If you use PicGo Cloud Services (Configuration Sync), we collect data necessary to provide these features:
- Account Information: Email address (for login and identification).
- Configuration Data:
- We store the configuration settings (e.g., plugin lists, custom settings) that you choose to sync.
- Encryption: All configuration data is encrypted. If you choose End-to-End Encryption (E2EE), your data is encrypted with your personal PIN before upload. In this case, we receive only an encrypted blob and have no technical ability to decrypt or view your configuration.
2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
To be clear, for users of the PicGo App (Client Tool):
- We do NOT collect your private API Keys or Tokens for third-party services (e.g., AWS, GitHub, Aliyun) in a readable format.
- We do NOT access or view your local files other than those you specifically select for uploading.
- We do NOT track your browsing history or other personal activities outside of the App.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- To Provide and Maintain the Service: Ensuring the App runs smoothly and your configuration sync works correctly across devices.
- To Improve Our Product: Using anonymous analytics to fix bugs and optimize performance.
- To Communicate with You: Sending important notices regarding your account or policy changes.
4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 Local Storage
Your credentials for third-party services (Access Keys, Secret Keys) are stored locally on your device. We recommend you keep your device secure to prevent unauthorized access.
4.2 Cloud Storage
For PicGo Cloud data, we employ a multi-layered security approach:
- Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is protected using strong SSL/TLS protocols, ensuring that data cannot be intercepted during transfer.
- Encryption at Rest: Even in Standard Encryption mode, your configuration data is never stored as plain text. We use industry-standard encryption (e.g., AES-256) to encrypt your data in our databases. This means that in the unlikely event of a database breach, your data remains unreadable.
- Zero Knowledge (E2EE): For users utilizing End-to-End Encryption with a PIN, our servers operate on a “Zero Knowledge” basis. We store the encrypted data blob but do not possess the key (PIN) to decrypt it.
5. Disclosure of Information
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to others. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: With trusted third parties who assist us in operating our Service (e.g., cloud infrastructure providers), provided they agree to keep this information confidential and secure.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, such as in response to a court order, subpoena, or government request.
- Enforcement: To enforce our Terms of Service or protect the rights, property, or safety of PicGo, our users, or others.
6. Third-Party Services
The PicGo App allows you to interact with third-party services (e.g., GitHub, AWS S3, Imgur). Please be aware that:
- This Privacy Policy applies only to PicGo.
- We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party providers. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before connecting them to PicGo.
7. Children’s Privacy
Our Services are not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
